The Nine Emperor Gods celebration in Sungai Way New Village

The 40-year old
Leng Eng Tian Temple located in Jalan SS9A/4, Sungei Way New Village, Petaling Jaya celebrated the Nine Emperor Gods Festival for the last time this year.

Thousands of devotees thronged the temple to offer prayers to the Gods. The grand finale to the festival was the fire-walking ceremony where devotees walk over burning charcoal.

Next year the celebration will be held at a new and bigger temple located nearby Jalan SS9A/5. It is now under construction and nearing completion.

The land on which the temple sits will be taken over by the developer who has provided an alternative land for the new temple.

The nine-day celebration started from the first day to the ninth day of the ninth moon (Sept 27 – Oct 5, 2011) according to the Chinese Lunar Calendar.

Devotees throng the temple to pay respect to the Gods.
